Red Letters Campaign- Read This

I happened upon this article via this blog. Thinking about foster kids aging out of the system without a family breaks my heart. I cannot imagine how scary a place the would would seem to such a child. I know I was terrified when I graduated high school with no real direction for my future. I try to imagine how things would have gone without any family to support me. Ouch. My heart trembles at the thought.

A friend told me that she read a statistic which stated that if just one person from every church in the US adopted a child from the US foster care system there would be no kids left in the system. Can you dream of such a thing? Oh wouldn't it be so wonderful?!

You know, it's not that unrealistic. What if each of us made it our goal to visit the churches in our neighbourhoods and pray that God would move the hearts of at least ONE family in that congregation. What could happen!?

Jen,
I have been thinking more and more about the foster care system latey. It's so sad to think about these kids having no one. We Christians could do so much, please help us Lord.

I can't believe I read this on your blog. God has been putting it on my heart since we were in TN to adopt one or more of these foster kids. There are more kids than can be imagined there in TN and I know that in the future it will grow. So who knows when or how it will happen for us, but I know it will. Thanks for letting us know that it is not impossible for these children to have a home. It justs takes just one family to start!

Jen,
Tonight after I read your post I was listening to the radio and they had a program on about a pastor named bishop W.C. Martin and his church, who reached out and adopted through the foster care system. Here's a link to the program: www.openlineradio.org
I don't think that it will be up to listen to on the internet until tomorrow, but I thought I'd share it with you.
